Recently, the Juba-Terikaka section of the first section of the Juba-Rumbek highway project undertaken by Shandong High Speed Road & Bridge International Engineering Co., Ltd. was successfully opened to traffic. Chargé d’Affaires Ma Wenjun of the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan and the South Sudanese ministerial delegation conducted an on-site inspection.
During the inspection, the delegation of ministers expressed that the completion and opening of the Juba to Terkaka section will significantly boost trade development and urban construction along the route. They extended their gratitude to the Company for their efforts in advancing the construction of the Juba to Terkaka section and commended the successful opening of the first section of the project.
The mainline of the Juba to Renk Road in South Sudan, constructed by the Company, has a total length of approximately 392.7 km and a total investment of over 700 million USD. The upgraded and renovated first section from Juba to Terkaka spans 63 kilometers, featuring the construction of 6 bridges, 102 culverts, and 15 box culverts.
Charge d’Affaires Ma Wenjun expressed that the Company overcame a series of challenges related to safety, supplies, the pandemic, and payments to successfully achieve the goal of opening the first section. Now, the travel time from Juba to Terkaka has been reduced from 4 hours to 40 minutes, bringing significant convenience to the local residents and contributing to the development of the South Sudan region.
Moving forward, the Company will build upon the experience gained from completing the first section, further enhance construction efficiency and project quality, and scientifically organize the construction of subsequent sections. This effort aims to make a positive contribution to the friendship between China and South Sudan, as well as to the economic and social development of South Sudan.
